Danny W. "Dan" Hardesty, Sr., age 70, a native of West Virginia and a resident of Robertsdale, Alabama passed away Sunday, March 1, 2020. Mr. Hardesty served in the United States Coast Guard for five years and retired from IBM after a 26-year career. He enjoyed cooking, gardening and was a master of making paper airplanes. Mr. Hardesty was an active member of the Rosinton United Methodist Church. Dan is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary S. Hardesty of Robertsdale, AL; daughter, Melissa Currin (Russell) of Ft. Wayne, IN; three sons, Richard Beckard, Jr. (Lynn), Kasson, MN, Danny Hardesty, Jr. of Silverhill, AL, Brian Lee Hardesty of Tallahassee, FL; brother, James M. Hardesty (Christa) of Barboursville, WV; aunt, Betty Newman of Milton, WV and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 6, 2020 at 10 a.m. at the Rosinton United Methodist Church with Rev. Colby Leonard officiating. A visitation will be held Thursday, March 5, 2020 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Mack Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spanish Fort, AL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 19059 South Greeno Road, Fairhope, AL 36532.
