MOORESBORO--Mrs. Marion Wood Callahan Jolley, 84, left her earthly life peacefully on Friday, July 27, 2007, at Wendover Hospice House.
She was a daughter of the late Rolan and Ada Skinner Callahan. Mrs. Jolley was a beloved member of Trinity Baptist Church. She was a devoted member of the Adult Choir for 50 years until ill health prevented her from continuing in February. She served her Lord faithfully by attending church, tithing, supporting mission projects, as well as praying and encouraging younger people in their Christian walk.
Mrs. Jolley worked at Royster and Cawley hospitals for 31 years. Before her years working in the hospitals, she was an expert weaver at Cone Mills, Cliffside Plant. She was an avid gardner until last year.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Carter Jolley, her brothers, J.D. Howard and Donnie Callahan and sisters, Ola, Helen, Ruth and Marjorie.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and HermanHamrick of Shelby; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Susan Jolley of Belwood and Richard and Amanda Jolley of Lyman, S.C.; and a special nephew and wife, Jimmie and Phyllis Jolley of the Trinity community.
Her grandchildren are Sarah Jolley, Cynthia Hamrick Shomaker and husband, Eric, Paul jolley and wife, Mayna, Michael Jolley and wife Lisa, Nathan Jolley and wife, Loree, Raymond Hamrick and wife, Darcy, and James Robert Jolley.
Great grandchildren are Karaline and Harrison Shomaker, Piper and Luca Hamrick, Allison, Abigail, Victoria, Samuel and Emily Jolley.
Her sisters are Nell Fox of Mooresboro, Betty Poteat of Lattimore, and Barbara and Bill Cross of Fair Play, S.C.; Allen Jolley of Mooresboro is her brother0in-law. Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews also played an important role in her life.
Funeral: Sunday, 6p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church. The body was placed in the sanctuary 30 minutes before the service.
