Virginia (Ginny) A. Hinds, 86, of Scotia, NY, passed away peacefully on February 29, 2020.
Born in Troy. NY on March 3, 1933, she was the daughter of the late John C. and Gertrude E. (Friesinger) Thompson.

Raised in Troy, NY she attended Catholic Central High, graduating in 1950. Shortly after high school she married Emerick Nagy in 1953. Together in Burnt Hills, NY they raised their 6 children.,

In 1989 she married Paul Hinds, adding three more children to her family.

While living in Raleigh, North Carolina, both her and her husband Paul, had been actively involved in the Lions Club for over 20 years.

Ginny, was a dedicated Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and even made it to a Great-Great Grandmother! She cherished being in each of these roles! Her family meant everything in the world to her.

Ginny had a variety of jobs over the years, Real Estate Agent, Clothing Sales (either in a boutique or through home parties), and a while living in Vegas for a short time, an Answering Service Operator (making wake up calls to famous people) and a dealer at the Black Jack table, where we imagine she got her love for the Casino. Her favorite job of all was working at the Albany State University library, which she did for many years..

She had a quick wit and great sense of humor that fueled energy to any conversation she was a part of. Ginny always had a great story for everyone, that was fully executed via hand motions. If it wasn't a story she always had a joke, albeit not always proper. She loved singing and often "safety songs" to her grandchildren. Ginny was passionate about sewing and crafting which she enjoyed teaching to her 4H group along with others that crossed her path. She also was an avid canner of her husband Paul's abundant harvest from their garden which she shared with many folks. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, watching Jeopardy and trying her luck at the casino.

She is predeceased by her husbands; Paul Hinds & Emerick Nagy, her siblings John Thompson Jr., Elizabeth Muhlig and Gertrude Quinones (Magin), son-in-law Ray Kirsten; Paul's daughter Carolyn Lindsey and her great grandson, Michael Lindsey.

Following in her footsteps are her children, Charles (Katherine) Nagy, John (Karen) Nagy, Susan (Lauris) Petersen, Virginia Street, Catherine (Kevin) Petersen, Mary Kirsten and Paul's children Paul (Marjorie) Hinds Jr. and Timothy (Jeanne) Hinds, Along with her children she leaves behind 29 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her beloved brother and sister Michael Thompson and MaryRose Thompson; as well as many extended family members.

Calling hours will be held at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road. on Thursday, March 5, 2020 from 5 to 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at the Church of Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Rd. on Friday, March 6th at 10 AM. A procession to St. Mary's Cemetery in Waterford will follow Mass.
