Survived by his wife Mildred "Midge" Den Herder; sister Muriel Smith; children Susan (Jeffrey) Crawford, Cay (Dominick) Tammaro, Debra (Alfredo) Morales, Steven (Susan) Den Herder; grandchildren Hannah, Betsy, Alison, Marguerite, Steven, Alejandro, Francesco, Ireri, Kyle, Danny, Kate and William.
A funeral mass will be conducted by Father Kevin at the Church of St. Therese 431 Portsmouth Blvd. Chesapeake, VA. Burial will be private at the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veteran Cemetery in Suffolk
