He was a fruit picker and later moved to their forever home in Glendale, California where he and Dolores (Grandma Lolita) worked at the L.A. Basket Company across the street from their home.
Proud of their work, they made the small wooden baskets that held strawberries for market sales (no longer made today).
Grampa Mingo as we grandchildren knew him would rock us to sleep on the front porch in his rocking chair singing, "Lo, Lo, Lo, - Lo, Lo, Lo, Lo, - Lo, Lo, Lo, Lo. (You would have to hear it!) Now that I try to sing or hum it, it sounds like an American Indian sound. LH
