Dennis Goebel Chandler Sr., 88, of Lee Manor Apartments, Owensboro, died Thursday, March 17, 1988, at Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital. He was born in Dixon, was the retired owner of D.G. Chandler Insurance Agency and a member of St. John United Methodist Church for 66 years. He also served in the U.S. Army in World War I. His first wife, Kate Nuckols Chandler, died Dec. 1, 1945, and his second wife, Nellie Ruth Ragsdale Chandler, died July 17, 1982. Survivors include five sons, D.G. Chandler, Jr. of Cincinnati, Ohio, Melvin C., James P., David H. and Arthur S. Chandler, all of Owensboro; a stepson, Alexis Burkhardt of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Virginia Frail of Orlando, Fla., and Nell Cunningham of Miami, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John United Methodist Church. Burial in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation 4-8 p.m. today and 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
