Catherine Jane Schmitz, age 78, of Hudson, Wisconsin passed away on Thursday, February 20th, 2020 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Cathy was born in Hudson, Wisconsin on September 16th, 1941 to Claude and Lorraine Brown (nee Murphy). Catherine grew up in Hudson, Wisconsin and attended and graduated from Hudson high school. On June 10th, 1961, Catherine married the love of her life, Sylvester Albert Schmitz, in Hudson, Wisconsin.
Catherine found peace and happiness in the company of her family. Catherine made sure that each and every member of her family felt loved, and cherished the time spent with them. Catherine’s grandchildren were her world. Sylvester and Catherine would often travel across the country to visit the grandkids and to experience nature and the sense of tranquility that family and nature often would bring. Cathy loved to watch birds out in nature. Deer, squirrels, rabbits and any other animals were often reasons she would find herself walking down roads, paths and trails as well. She also loved flowers and gardening, even having irises in her garden at her home that had originally been in her grandmother’s garden, surviving the move and then thriving in Catherine’s garden. Catherine was a loyal Packers fan. She also loved a good fish fry. Casinos and shows in Las Vegas, Nevada and Branson, Missouri were things she loved to go to also.
Catherine will be remembered in the hearts of her husband, Sylvester Schmitz; her children, David Schmitz, Linda (Chris) Larsen; grandchildren, Ben (Natalya) Larsen, Sarah Larsen; siblings, Anita (Carl) Westerdahl, Elizabeth Snow and many nieces, nephews and other loving family members. She is preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Lorraine Brown; siblings, Helen Mary, Rex, Will and Lee Brown.
Catherine’s mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, March 7th, 2020 at 11:00am at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hudson, Wisconsin. A visitation for family and friends to gather at will start one hour prior to Catherine’s service.
