Covington, Ind. - Frieda E. Gray, 86, of Covington passed away at 8:37 a.m. EST Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Autumn Trace Assisted Living in Attica, Indiana.
She was born October 14, 1933 in Danville, Illinois the daughter of the late Edgar Alan and Bertha Irene (Smith) Cole.
Frieda first married Glenn L. Biesecker. She later married Ward H. Gray in July 1971. He preceded her in death in January of 2001.
Survivors include her children: Sharon (Robert) Brewer of Covington, Indiana; Melanie Biesecker of Phoenix, Arizona; Timothy (Tina) Biesecker of Covington, Indiana and Mark Biesecker of Paradise, Michigan; seven grandchildren: Laura; Melisa; Kristen; Bryan; Jennifer; Jason and Stacy; six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law: Sara Cole of Bloomington, Indiana; brother-in-law: Clarence Turner of Lafayette, Indiana, along with several nieces and nephews.
Frieda was preceded in death by her sister: Reva Turner and brother: Eugene Cole.
Frieda was a 1951 graduate of Perrysville High School. She formerly worked at J.C. Penney's and retired from United Samaritans Medical Center (Medical Record Department), both in Danville, Illinois. She was a member of the Benson Chapel United Methodist Church, Covington Library Book Lovers Club, Ladies Bible Study and the Covington Euchre Club. Frieda enjoyed reading, working on crafts, scrapbooking and playing cards. She was a former 4-H Leader and enjoyed watching Indiana University Basketball. Frieda formerly lived in Michigan with her late husband, Ward Gray from 1971, returning to the Covington, Indiana area in 1985.
Funeral services: Noon EST Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Benson Chapel United Methodist Church, 7114 West US Highway 136, Covington, Indiana 47932; Officiating: Rev. Christina Bennett; Burial: Lower Mound Cemetery north of Perrysville, Indiana; Visitation: 10 a.m. EST until time of services Saturday, February 29, 2020 at the church. Contributions may be made to the Benson Chapel United Methodist Church. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana is caring for the family.
