Anna Brenner Helder passed away in Shannon, Caroll Co, Illinois Nov 18, 1870 age 33 years 1 month and 19 days. She was the daughter of Adam and Susan Brenner and the wife of John Helder. Four weeks ago she attended the funeral of her father and little did she think then that in so short a time we would be called upon to follow her remains to the silent grave. Sister Helder will not soon be forgotten in Shannon. Her trials at times were great but she never murmured nor complained beneath the chasting rod, but was allways (sic) chearful (sic) and happy. She had no desire to get well, knowing that to depart and be with her blessed saviour would be far better. Two weeks before she passed away I asked her wheather (sic) she was entirely the Lords. Smiling she replied I am. All that gives me uneasiness is my children. I leave them into the hands of the Lord, his will be done. A few days before she passed away she saw her father come to the window and beckon her to come and sure enough she did go to meet Father Brenner in the new Jeruslem. It was the largest funeral I ever attended since I am in the ministry. The church was crowded and a number outside and some returned home. Never did I preach to a more deeply effected congregation, old and young convicted and unconvicted had tears to shed. Oh how effecting to see a husband and 9 small children standing around the remains of a dear wife and kind and loving mother weeping. Besides her family and aged mother three sisters and six brothers mourn her departure. God bless the bereaved.

Children: Mary Frances Helder Wright, Sarah Jennie Helder Ormsbee, Albert Nathan Helder, Calvin Streeter "Callie" Helder, Charles Wesley Helder, Ella E. Helder Chitty Whitmore, Willie Wesley Helder, and twins Ada Ava Helder (raised by Lucy Jenne, foster mother) Beck and Ida Iva Helder (raised as "Carrie" by foster parents by David and Elizabeth Fager) Pellett.
