FAYETTEVILLE - Mrs. Penny Honeycutt Nichols, 93, of Fayetteville, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2012, surrounded by her loving family in Highland House of Fayetteville. Mrs. Nichols was a retired employee of First Citizens Bank. She was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Eliza Adams and William Edward Honeycutt; brothers, E. Melvin Honeycutt, Charlie Honeycutt, James Honeycutt, Paul Honeycutt and David Honeycutt; sisters, Bea Ray Strickland, Lyncie Munns and Bruce Honeycutt; son-in-law, John B. Abbey Sr.; and grandson, William Charles Abbey of Columbus, Ohio. Memorial services will be held for Mrs. Nichols on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at 2 p.m. in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel in Fayetteville with the Rev. Archie Barringer officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 25, 2012. A private burial will take place at a later date in Parker's Grove United Methodist Church cemetery in Linden. Mrs. Nichols is survived by her son, Jay Nichols of Naples, Fla.; daughter, Amy Nichols Abbey of Columbus, Ohio; sister, Ruby H. Pearsall of Fayetteville; and a grandson, J.B. Abbey Jr. of Columbus, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Parker's Grove United Methodist Church cemetery, c/o Carol Lynn, 4487 Linden Road (N.C. 217), Linden, NC 28356. Services entrusted to Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
