Yesterday afternoon Joseph Blair died at this home 2328 Sixth Avenue. He had been in failing health for several months. He was born in Centre County, November 10, 1833, and had resided in Altoona for a number of years, working as a contractor and builder. He was a member of the Christian church and was well known and esteemed. He was a veteran of the civil war, having served in the Second Pennsylvania cavalry. Mr. Blair was married in 1854 to Maggie Swinehart, of Hollidaysburg, who survives with these children: John R., George W., Elmer E., David, Thomas, Howard, Mrs. Eva Runyeon, and Mrs. Albert Coleman, all of Altoona, and Mrs. B. Kirk Lay of Philadelphia. He is also survived by two brothers and one sister; thirty-four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
