September 10, 1964 - February 20, 2020 Ronnie Scott Applegate, 55 of Berea, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2020 at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington.


Scott was born, September 10, 1964 in Madison County, KY to the late Jennings Nelson and Loraine Lowery Applegate. He was a project manager for Dixon Electric and was an electrical contractor. He enjoyed playing the guitar, cooking, fishing, and piddling in the garden as well as watching U.K. Basketball and attended Full Gospel Tabernacle.

He is survived by the mother of his children, Tonya Applegate and their children, son, Jaycob (Kate) Applegate of Berea, KY; daughter, Lauren (Aaron) Ponder of Berea, KY; step son Cody (Ashley) Powell of Richmond, KY (the son of Vickie Powell) two brothers, Bobby Applegate of Richmond, KY; Scott (Shannon) Cates of Leitchfield, KY, two sisters, Joan (Luke Witt) Oliver, Gayle (Al) Brown, a sister-in-law Mary June Applegate and one grandchild on the way, Sadie Bee Ponder and numerous nieces and nephews.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Terry Applegate, and a sister Sandy Hager.

Funeral services for Scott will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at the Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, with Bro. Ricky Horn and Doug Dixon officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be R.J. Oliver, Travis Applegate, Bobby Applegate, Donnie Brandenburg, Kevin Sizemore, Jason Applegate, and Jeff Carter. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Neal, Kenny Adams, Jason Dixon, Mike Marion, Hank Wedeking, Shawn Smith, Earl Crim and Murl Caudill.
