Stela Gertrude (Buquo) Gardner was born on August 10, 1873 in Houston County, Tennessee , the daughter of George Washington Buquo (1849–1926) and Mary (Pollard) Buquo (1852–1942).

She was married to Charles M Gardner (1881–1932).

She moved to Nashville about 1915 and was a member of the Presbyterian church. living at 209 Osceola in Nashville, Stella was 82 years old and a widow when she died at home on May 26, 1956 of a cerebral hemorrhage.

Survivors included daughters Mrs Howington, Mrs M H Smith and Mrs L D Gower, sister Mrs C B Hunt, brother E L Buquo, all in Nashville, seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held on May 28th at Pettus-Owen & Wood Funeral Home, and burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashville.
