Obituary:
Kerri A. (Patenaude) McNamara, a confident, vital woman with a dazzling smile, died Sept. 23, 2000. She was 22 and had brain cancer.
"Her smile was everything," her husband, Dennis McNamara of Lisbon, said Sunday. "For some reason, as much as she told people what she thought, all she'd have to do is smile and everything was all right."
Mrs. McNamara was a casual woman who hated dressing up but still managed to look lovely.
"She was the girl that always had a pair of jeans on, a T-shirt . . . no makeup, never wore makeup," her husband said. "She was just naturally beautiful. One of them."
She made an exception to her no dress-up policy a bit more than a week ago, for her wedding.
"That was her last wish," her husband said. "She wanted this picture-perfect wedding."
The two had been together since junior high school. So, on Sept. 16, her family and friends put on a wedding at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center.
"It was as picture-perfect as you could get at a hospital," her husband said. Her cousin's hair stylist fixed her hair, the men wore tuxedos, and the women wore gowns.
Family was important to Mrs. McNamara, and her family was exceptionally tightknit. "Thanksgivings are huge, Christmases are big," her husband said.
Mrs. McNamara had definite and strong opinions, and made certain that people knew what they were.
She enjoyed playing darts, and was a member of the Left Hand Club, a social club, and of the Lisbon Fire Auxiliary.
She was born in Lewiston, a daughter of Alphie Patenaude and Judy Hardy Goddard.
She attended Lisbon High School and worked for the past four years at L.L. Bean.
She is survived by her husband and two sons, Michael J. and Nicholas W. McNamara, all of Lisbon; her mother, Judy, and her stepfather, Norman Goddard, of Lisbon; her father, Alphie, and stepmother, Julie Patenaude, of Greene; a sister, Penny Patenaude of Lisbon; two brothers, Allie of Lisbon Falls and Ricky of Greene; her maternal grandparents, Starr Hardy of Lisbon, Spencer Hardy of Connecticut; and her maternal great-grandmother, Mable Russell of Bowdoin.
Visiting hours will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Crosman Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Lisbon Falls, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in .
