Betty Mae Thigpen, age 89, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2007, at her home in Crowley, Texas.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 2nd, at the Ross Cemetery Annex in Baird, Texas, with Rev. Truman Johnson officiating. Services are under the direction of Parker Funeral Home in Baird, Texas.

Betty was born on May 25, 1918, in Clyde, Texas, to Edgar Milton Connell and Odie Belle Offectt Connell. She married Stanford Thigpen on November 16, 1948 in Gretna, Mississippi. He preceded her in death on November 20, 1981. She had lived in Baird from 1972 until she moved to Crowley in 1992. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Baird.

Survivors include one nephew, E. L. Connell of Mineral Wells, Texas; four grandchildren: Tommy Lynn Chaney of Crowley, Texas, Vicki Pannell and her husband Narland, Crowley, Texas, Victor Joe Chaney of Clifton, Texas, and Dena Threlkeld and her husband Billy, of Fort Worth, Texas; five great-grandchildren: Heather Lynn Chaney of Fort Worth, Texas, James Leslie Chaney and Tommy Jo Chaney, both of Crowley, Kimberly and Jimmy Ford of Fort Polk, Louisiana, and Bobby Dale Gerstner of Joshua; and two great-grandchildren: Andrew Brice Ford and Taylor Nicole Ford of Fort Polk, Louisiana.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Patsy Gay Goble Cox, on February 6, 2002.
