This is an excerpt from her Mom's, Ida Helene Schneider Striedel's, obituary:

The untimely death of Mrs. Ida Striedel, wife of John Striedel, has cast a deep gloom over a large circle of relatives and friends.

A baby girl was born unto them on the 31st. of October. All seemed well and they were rejoicing over the splendid daughter. A rising temperature several weeks ago was the first evidence of complications setting in. Her condition gradually grew worse. On Tuesday, December 13, it became evident that her condition was critical. On Saturday of the same week she was removed to a local hospital. Every possible medical aid was given her, but to no avail. She was summoned to her reward at 5 a.m. Tuesday.

The funeral service was conducted from the home of Louis Striedel Of Yorktown Tuesday afternoon at four o'clock. The baby daughter, Velma Lee, received the sacrament of holy baptism at the side of the mother's casket. Grandparents from both sides of the family acted as sponsors. Interment was made on the Westside Cemetery. Rev. E.A. Sagebiel, pastor of the Luth. Church had charge of the services.
