Deceased Name: ROSALIE H. BENSON
HAMPTON - Mrs. Rosalie "Rose" Augusta Hooper Benson, passed away quietly in her home on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. James M. Benson, and her son, J. Frank Benson.

Rose was a native of Newport News and a lifelong Peninsula resident. She was graduated from St. Vincent's Academy and attended Hollins College. Mrs. Benson was active in her community holding numerous positions in various organizations. She served as President of the Junior Women's Club, the Peninsula Arts Association and the Huntington Garden Club. She was Vice-President of the Community Concerts. In addition, she helped with other functions in the community. Rose was also an active member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and served on many committees in the church.

Mrs. Benson is survived by her two daughters, Rosalie Benson and Maureen Benson, and by her son-in-law, Frank Mohorko.
