February 2020 - Passage. Joseph Glade Sorenson passed away Thursday, February 13, 2020 in Orem, Utah at the age of 85.

Glade is survived by his wife Arlene; their children, Bryan Sorenson (Missy), Bradley Sorenson, Sherene McClellan (John) and Deanna Sorenson; his sister Wanda Aston, nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Joe and Stella Sorenson; brother Rex Sorenson, sister Rita Sorenson Hicks and a grand-daughter Bryar Ann Sorenson.

Glade was born on July 22, 1934 in Vineyard, Utah to Joe and Stella Sorenson. He graduated from American Fork High School and immediately went to work for Western Electric then Mountain Bell and spent the rest of his career installing and maintaining telephone systems. He married Mary Arlene Guymon in 1955. He was drafted into the Army 1957 and was stationed in both new Jersey and on Enewetok Island in the South Pacific. Over the next 10 years the couple welcomed four children into their home and Glade set about teaching them how to garden, shoot and tease their mother.

A man of few words and often even a gruff one, the things Glade never lacked were affection, a sense of humor and a good hug. He was an accomplished tinkerer who could fix or make anything he (or his family!) desired. He was a firearm enthusiast who loved historic weapons and actually built several of his own. He was a founding member of the Utah Frontiersman and active in the Pleasant Grove Sportsman. He was an active and dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was involved in the Boy Scouts for many years. Everyone who knew this gentle giant will miss the twinkle in his eye and his quiet smile.

The family would like to thank the Hospice staff and Meals on Wheels, special thanks to Kim and Wanda for all the visits.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 20, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the Timpanogos Third Ward Chapel, 425 East 500 North, Pleasant Grove. Family and friends may attend a viewing from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
