Thelma L. Durie, age 92, a resident of Eastpointe, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013 at St. John Hospital in Detroit. She was born January 29, 1921 in AuGres, Michigan. Thelma and her late husband Alan are the former owners of the Donna Lee Sweet Shop in Detroit. Alan ran the grocery store and Thelma was in charge of the dairy and ice cream. Thelma enjoyed playing BINGO and playing cards. She also enjoyed embroidery and dancing, but most of all spending time with her family.
Beloved wife of the late Alan. Loving mother of Donna and the late Dale. Grandmother of Ronald (Dawn), Sheri, Joleen (Erin), Christene (Donald), and Tammy. Great-grandmother of Charles, Katie, Emily, and Deanna; Joshua (Brooke), MiKayle and Stephanie, and Sara. Dear sister of Eva.
Visitation Thursday from 1-9 PM at the S. K. Schultz Funeral Home, 21705 Gratiot Avenue, Eastpointe. Funeral service Friday 11:00 Am at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
