Elizabeth was the second daughter and youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. John Flavel Reeve.
Elizabeth Povall Reeve was the namesake of her mother Elizabeth Povall Grubbs Reeve.

Elizabeth Povall Reeve married Val Stuart Redden on March 2, 1869, in Washington, D.C.
Her father died six months later in September of that year in Washington, D.C.

On the birth certificate of her only child her name is stated "Bettie P. Reeve."
For other records she stated her married name as "Bettie R. Redden."

1870 Washington, D.C. City Directory - "Bessie P. Redden, music teacher"; living with her newlywed husband "Val S. Redden, clk" and her widowed mother "Elizabeth Reeve, wid John F."

1875 - Birth of their only child Stuart Reeve Redden in New Orleans, LA.
1876 New Orleans City Directory - Residence: Magazine Street

1886 - Probable date of photo at left.

1900 U.S. Census - Residence: Laurel, Mississippi; their son and his wife also living with them

1910 U.S. Census - Elizabeth and her husband are living with son Stuart and his family;
Residence: Slidell, Saint Tammany Parish, LA; Elizabeth's occupation: Music Teacher

1917, May 31 - Elizabeth's husband of 48 years dies at the age of 75, Slidell, LA.
1918 - Per his WW I Draft Registration her son Stuart and his wife state residence as
Ruston, Lincoln Parish, LA; Elizabeth would have been with them.

1920 U.S. Census (January) - Elizabeth, age 78, widow, is living with her son Stuart and his family;
Residence: Slidell, Saint Tammany Parish, LA
This is the last U.S. Census on which Elizabeth "Bettie" Reeve Redden appears.
Her son Stuart accepted a new position with a lumber company in Shreveport in 1920,
according to Stuart's obit, and the family made Shreveport their permanent location
from then on. One source gives 1920 as the year of her death. It is not confirmed that she was laid to rest with her husband in Greenwood Cemetery (per his obit) because a search only revealed crumbling headstones, etc.
