Aledo. April 28. - Death called away Mrs. Abagail McPherren on the evening of April 22, aged 73 years, 5 months and 25 days. She had been in poor health for some time and had become despondent, so much so that her friends thought her to be out of her right mind. The immediate cause of her death was an overdose of laudnum. It is not known that she took the dose with suicidal intent, but such is the supposition of many. Her husband died some years ago. He was a member of Co. A, 30th Regt. Ill. Vol. The husband and wife had not lived together for some years prior to his death, although no divorce was had. Her remains were interred at the Aledo cemetery. The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church, Rev. F. A. Shearer officiating.
