Virginia Lee Carpenter, age 92, of Buckhannon, WV, died Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Holbrook’s Nursing Home in Buckhannon. She was born August 31, 1920 in Huntington, WV, a daughter of the late Thomas Henry and Margaret Hamilton Brooks. On August 3, 1945 she married John M. Carpenter who preceded her in death on March 25, 2002.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by four brothers, Hamilton Edgerton Brooks, Robert William Brooks, John Hancock Brooks and Thomas Henry Brooks, Jr. and one sister Marguerite Wharton.

She is survived by one son, Jack B. and wife Donna Blankenship Carpenter of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Kaylyn Lee Carpenter of Buckhannon; fifteen nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Carpenter was a receptionist for WVWC, a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Buckhannon and was past President of the WV State Chapter PEO. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
