Rockdale - Ruby Margaret Ekdahl, 89, of Rockdale passed away on Sunday July 29, 2007, at the Community Care Center in Stamford.

The family will be receiving friends at the Tankersley Funeral Home on Monday from 6 until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday July 31, 2007, at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ericksdahl with Rev. Pete Weist officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Ruby was born May 27, 1918, in the Rockdale community in Shackelford County to Joseph and Josephine McLennan Bean. She attended Rockdale and Berryhill Schools and graduated from Stamford High School in 1936. She married Lawrence Ekdahl on January 1, 1946, at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ericksdahl. She was a homemaker, a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church, and the Berryhill Quilting Club.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Lawrence Ekdahl of Rockdale; one daughter, Mary Guenthner and husband Larry of Warner Robins, Ga.; two sons, Royce Ekdahl and wife LaVerne of Lubbock and Wayne Ekdahl and wife Sylvia of Stamford; seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one sister-in-law, Billie Bean of Stamford.
