John North was the son of Benjamin North 1749-1817 and Catherine Bois (or Du Bois) 1750- .

John was probably born in Columbia County, New York. There he married Caroline VanValkenburgh in 1800.

The couple moved to Middlefield, Otsego, New York by 1810. Then by 1830 they moved to Hastings, Oswego, New York.

Children: Lambert 1802, Betsey () Brown 1804, Carolyn (Asahel) Wightman 1809, Polly (John) Dimon 1813, Jane (Jonah) Snyder 1821, Caroline (Albert) Lane 1828.
