DIED. At his residence in Veteran, on Tuesday, the 14th, inst., Dr. CYRUS J. BENTLEY, of general debility, in the 70th year of his age. He was one of the pioneer settlers of Horseheads, having emigrated to that place in 1828 from Rensselaer county. He became intimately identified with the prosperity of the place, taking an active interest in all public business and ambitiously engaged in procuring the act for the construction of the Chemung Canal. For many years he was a practicing Physician, but of late has somewhat retired from active duties. Within a few months of the full age allotted to men he has quietly sunk to rest, leaving a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn his loss. Thus do generations pass away (Elmira Weekly Advertiser and Chemung County Republican, Elmira, New York, February 18, 1860).
