Born in Hazel Patch, Laurel Co., KY. Son of James Garrett Branson and Sarah Catherine Dees. Married, 1916 in GA, Bessie Lee Brewer, daughter of John Coldiron Brewer and Sarah "Sallie" Mullins. Married 2nd, Estelle Mullinax, daughter of Joseph E. and Victoria Mullinax.

James M. Branson Sr.

Funeral services for James Martin Branson Sr., 74, of 1120 Sells Ave., SW, a retired school-teacher, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Gordon Street Baptist church. Dr. D. J. Evans will officiate, with burial in Westview Cemetery.

Mr. Branson died in an Atlanta hospital Tuesday.

He was a member of Gordon Street Baptist Church and the Cascade Masonic Lodge, and taught in the Atlanta School System 35 years before his retirement.

Mr. Branson is survived by his widow; daughters, Mrs. M. C. Lyon and Mrs. J. R. Hayes, both of Atlanta; sons, James M. Branson Jr. of Marietta and Bill B. Branson of Liverpool, N.Y.; several sisters and brothers and seven grandchildren.
