Mr. Raymond James Burnett, 78, of Newnan, GA., formerly of Clayton County, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2020 at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.

He was born April 26, 1941 in Maryville, TN to the late Isaac Ed Burnett & Dora Tipton Burnett.

Mr. Burnett grew up in Maryville, TN and moved to Clayton County in 1969. He and his family were longtime members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church before retiring to Sucches, GA. In 2018, they moved to Newnan where they joined Mills Chapel Baptist Church. He worked for many years as a lab technician for Dairymen, Inc. and later retired from the Clayton County Water Authority. His grandchildren were a joy to him and he took tremendous pride in their accomplishments.

The family will receive friends Sunday, February 9, 2020 between 2:00-4:00 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St, Newnan. There will be a family graveside service at a later date at Piney Level/McCaulley Cemetery in Maryville, Tennessee.

Rather than flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Soles for Cole at www.solesforcole.com

Survivors include wife, Shirley Coulter; son, Todd (Lori) Burnett; brother, Roy Burnett; grandchildren, Anna Burnett Duffey, Addison Burnett, Braden Burnett; nieces and nephews.
