Carl was married by 1930 to Lillian Marieta Davis. They did not have children.
They lived in Chattanooga where in 1930 he was a superintendent at a life insurance company. He and Marieta were living with her father. Carl later became a well-known florist designer, working for Hale's Flowers.
He was a member of the American Legion and the Asbury Methodist church.
Carl died at 52 of bowel cancer.
He was survived by his wife, Mrs. Marieta D. Rudd; two sisters, Mrs. C. F. Hatfield, Chattanooga, and Mrs. Lillie Thomas, Tampa, Fla.; and brother, G. F. Miles, Chattanooga.
