Ofimiano Smith went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 2, 2020. Ofimiano, also known as "Smitty", was born and raised in San Antonio, NM, in the Tijeras mountains.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, MaryLou Smith; daughters, Patricia Lucero and her significant other, Wayne Flores, Julie Smith and close family friend, Gina Maciel, and son, Tim Smith and daughter-in-law, Patricia Smith. His surviving grand children are Yvonne Benevidez and husband, David, Vicente Armijo and wife, Brittany, RoseMarie Armijo, Alex Armijo and fiancé, Jessica Baca, Isabella Smith, and Liliana Smith. His great grand children are Savannah S., James S., Dominic S., David Jr. B., Savannah B., Elijah A., and Hayden G.

Ofimiano graduated from Manzano High School in 1964. Ofimiano worked in construction for several years, and as a custodian for APS. He ran his own janitorial business, Night Train Janitorial, for many years.

Ofimiano was honored to be a Matachine dancer where he served as the "Monarcho" for many years. Ofimiano was such a good Ranchera and Polka dancer that his wife and her girlfriends would often play fight to dance with him. Ofimiano was a big fan of the local wrestling circuit in the 1970’s, and he loved to watch boxing. He was a faithful Denver Broncos fan, and he loved the music of George Jones and Al Hurricane. Ofimiano was a little league softball coach for many seasons, and he started an All Women’s Fun League in Alameda. In Ofimiano’s later years, he discovered his love for bingo, and enjoyed playing with friends at the senior center in Los Lunas. Ofimiano loved to laugh and play fight with everyone, whether he was being silly with one liners and his facial expressions, or lovingly agonizing his grand children with figure four arm bars.

Ofimiano served the Lord as an usher for many years at The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary church in Alameda. Ofimiano and his wife raised their family, and their marriage, God centered. They were faithful in delivering their family to church service every week. They often attended crucios, and marriage enrichment weekends.

Ofimiano’s Pallbearers were Julie Smith, Alex Armijo, Vicente Armijo, Louie Sedillo, James Flores, Marvin Garcia, Vincent Guillen, and James Flores.
His Honorary Pallbearers included Larry Garcia, Felipe Garcia, Jerry Garcia, Jerry Macias, Randy Macias, Jesse Montano, Wayne Flores, and Margarito Sandoval.
