A. J. Byrd, who resided on a farm southeast of this village, died Saturday evening at the home of his son, John, in Oblong, after a short illness of pneumonia. Funeral at the Mound Church, Tuesday, and burial in Mound Cemetery. He was 78 years old. His wife preceded him in death some four months.
