On Monday, Jan. 27, 2020, Liviah Ann Oslund Olin Michaelis slipped away peacefully in Coeur d’Alene at the age of 97. Liviah was born in Moscow, Idaho, on Aug. 7, 1922, to Alex Hilmer and Anna Marie (Anderson) Oslund of Troy, Idaho. She grew up in Troy, the second of four children. She attended school there and graduated from Troy High School. She went on to attend Lewiston State Normal School and the University of Idaho and graduated with a degree in home economics.

She met David Harry Olin at Lewiston Normal School and they married in 1944. Harry’s career led them to live in many states across the country where they acquired enduring friendships. Upon their return to Idaho, they made Coeur d’Alene their lasting home.

During those years she enjoyed North Idaho life: boating, fishing, huckleberry picking, oil painting, gardening and especially the family camping trips to Priest Lake, Idaho. Golfing became one of her passions, and she was a member of the Women’s 9-Hole League. She was proud to share her hole-in-one story. A lifelong accomplishment was her ability to sew. She sewed anything from baby clothes to doll clothes to wedding dresses. After Harry’s death, Liviah married Walter Michaelis. They enjoyed 10 years together before he passed away on Jan. 4, 2008. Liviah was a proud wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She used her many talents to enrich the lives of her family.

She is survived by her children, Kathy (Dave), Patti (Kip), Janet (Bill) and David (Becky); eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and Walt’s children: Rod, Randy and Becky.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at North Star Assisted Living and Hospice of North Idaho for their loving attention.

There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2020, at Dry Creek Cemetery, 1231 Dry Creek Road, Troy, Idaho. Visit the Yates Funeral Home online memorial at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Hospice of North Idaho, 2290 W. Prairie Ave., Coeur d’Alene.
