Lucy Starrett
November 11, 1935 ~ January 29, 2020

Lucy Lavena Starrett, age 84 of Mannington went to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 29, 2020. She was born November 11, 1935, the only daughter of the late Arygel Dewey Glover and Nancy Margaret Martin.

Lucy was a beloved Mother not just to her eight crazy children but to any and every kid that needed a bed or hot meal. She didn’t have much but was always willing to share what little she had with anyone who needed it. In her lifetime, Lucy taught her family and friends to be kind and giving but also to stand firm when the moment called for it. The lives she touched and the people she helped are numerous. She will be missed by all of us, although we are sure she will not miss us. She is looking down from heaven now glad she gets a nice break from the spectacle that she created and we all continue. Rest well Lucy as you deserve it but don’t get to comfortable because the rest of us will be there before you now it and heaven will need you to take charge and control this unruly bunch.

Lucy is survived by eight children, Julie Starrett, James Starrett, Nancy McKinney, Janet Kintyhtt, Claude “Hotrod” Starrett, Pamela “Kay” Jones, Arygel “Spike” Starrett, and Robyn Starrett; 27 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren and one niece.

In addition to her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by four brothers; her husband James “Pap” Starrett; a companion Dale Wells; one grandson, James “Jim Bob” Starrett; and great-grandson, Finn Oliver Martin.

Family and friends may call at the Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, Saturday, February 1, 2020 from 10:00am to 12:00pm with funeral services following at 12:00pm with Brother Brian Marteney, Brother Stanley Starsick, and Brother Charlie Fisher officiating. Interment will follow at Whetstone Cemetery.
