Yolanda V. Perugini, 91, passed away on January 19, 2019. She was born on March 12, 1927 in the Springdale section of Stamford, the daughter of the late Gaetano and Antonette (Pastore) Guarino.
Yolanda grew up in the town of Springdale, the youngest of 6 children. She attended Stamford Schools and dreamed of becoming a singer. Even though she never realized her dream, she never lost her love of music and singing.
A loving wife and mother, Yolanda was devoted to her Catholic faith. She delighted in decorating Sacred Heart Church at Christmas and Easter and was dedicated to this role for 20 years. She was also a 30-year member of Sacred Heart’s Rosary Altar Society and served for many years as its Hospitality Chairman.
Yolanda found joy when surrounded by her family and friends. She was a remarkable cook and baker and loved to host parties, especially over the holidays.
Yolanda will always be remembered for her joy for life, her giving spirit, her smile and her laughter.
Yolanda is survived by her husband of 63 years, Anthony Perugini, her daughter Judy Coppola and son-in-law Ted Coppola, her puppy Daisy, sister-in-law Angie Fabricatore, godchild Lorraine DeNicola, 6 nieces and nephews, 12 great nieces and nephews. Yolanda is also survived by Judy and Ted’s extended family: Thomas (Linda) Coppola and their children Theo and Jana, Adam Coppola and his children Lina and Leo.
In addition to her parents, Yolanda is predeceased by her sisters Caroline (Fortuna) Piacentini, Rose (Frank) Blefari, Mary (Frank) Cannella, Lucy (Albert) Piacentini (Vincent) Plomitallo, her brother Anthony (Carmella and Mildred) Guarino, and niece Carmella Piacentini.
Yolanda’s family wishes to thank the Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Fairfield County team Theresa, Dede, Melissa and Ruth Ann. Your dedication and compassion will never me forgotten.
