Joan Parker Shuford joined the Church Triumphant on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at Aston Park Health Care Center.

Joan was born December 26, 1933 in Marble, NC to the late James and Hazel Barton Parker.

She was also predeceased by her husband, Milton A. Shuford, and several beloved pets.

Joan grew up in Brevard, NC where she used her beautiful sopranic voice to sing for many events and continued to sing in her church choir and solos. Joan was a talented florist and homemaker. She was a long time member of Francis Asbury United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Smith (Skip) of Weaverville; her son, Rev. Michael Shuford (Donna) of Elkin; granddaughters, Kelley King, Rev. Rebekah Ralph (Robert), and Amy S. Black (Matthew); two grandsons, Jeremy Smith (Brandi) and Jason Smith (Melinda); great grandsons, Cameron and Tatum Smith; and four foster great-grandsons, AJ, TJ, KJ, and RJ.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, February 6 at Francis Asbury United Methodist Church at 1:00 p.m., with the Rev. Michael Kurtz officiating. The family will receive friends starting at 12:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. Interment will follow the service at Green Hills Cemetery.
