He was a former resident of Chicago and a veteran of World War I, serving in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bolene Ames; a daughter, Vivian Jerawskie of Chicago; a stepdaughter, Sandra Lewis of Princeton; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren; a brother, Merle Ames of Davenport, Iowa, and a sister, Martha Mae Cleveland of Phoenix, Ariz.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Morgan Funeral Home here with Dr. Alex Rodgers officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
