HUGEN, GERLENE Gerlene Ann Hugen, age 92, of Grand Rapids, went to be with her Lord on June 17, 2014. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, and 2 sisters-in-law. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bert Hugen; her husband, Bill, of 67 years; her parents, Lewis and Martena (DeJong) Ozinga; her sister, Angelyn Klyn; her brothers-in-law, John Hugen and Ray Hugen; and her sister-in-law, Wilma Hugen. In her early childhood, she attended Pella (Iowa) Christian Grade School and graduated from Pella High School in 1939. Gerlene worked at the Pella Farmers' Union Cooperative as a bookkeeper prior to her marriage. She and Bill lived in several states, including Michigan, Minnesota, and Iowa, where Bill served as a teacher and administrator in Christian schools, eventually settling in Denver, CO. Gerlene was a member of the Ladies' Aid in her church and the Denver Christian School Auxiliary. In later years, Gerlene enjoyed stamp, coin and Delft collecting. In retirement, Bill and Gerlene spent many winters in Florida where they made numerous friends. Gerlene's life was lived in service to others and gave testimony to the hope and trust she placed in the Lord. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 11 AM in the Chapel at Raybrook Manor with Rev. David Poolman officiating. The family will greet friends and relatives one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Pine Hill Cemetery.
