1940 - 2020

Richard Forrest "Tony" Anthony, 79, of Waskom, TX, passed away Jan. 18th, 2020 in Shreveport, LA.

Tony was born in Sherman, TX, son of Forrest Daniel Anthony and Nancy Lee Brown Anthony, on Dec. 11, 1940. He grew up in Fort Worth, TX, attended Paschal High School, later enlisting in the US Navy and serving on the USS Pine Island (a seaplane tender) as Fireman Apprentice and Seaman Recruit. Tony earned the Good Conduct Medal and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.

After military service, Tony worked at General Dynamics in Fort Worth where he became a machinist. After 30 years as a machinist he retired from Beaird Industries in Shreveport. After retirement Tony, "The ClockMender", worked as a clock repairman/technician, restoring hundreds of timepieces and family treasures, just as his father did in his appliance store in Ft. Worth.

As a young man, Tony would take his family camping, hunting, fishing at various lakes, Galveston and Padre Island. He also provided hours of entertainment on his motorcycle. He loved dancing and singing. He later married Shirley Hayes and became family with Shirley's adult children, Melanie Havins (Scott) and Randell Carrier and Shirley's brother, Daniel "Uncle Butch" Hayes. The couple were active members of their church, Faith Independent Baptist Church, where Tony served as deacon, in choir, bible studies, etc.

Shirley precedes Tony in death (2018).

Tony is survived by 2 sons: Dean Wharton (Liz) of Bossier City, LA; Dan Anthony (Becky) of Ft. Wayne, IN; and 1 daughter: Nancy Anthony Vaughn (Richard) of Overland Park, KS; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held Sat, Jan. 25th at 5pm at Faith Independent Baptist Church (465 Eberle St.) in Waskom, TX 75692. Services will be led by Pastor Doug Lovett.
