CARL EMMIT DOUTHIT, 87, of Lonoke, Arkansas died Sunday, August 31, 2003 at Golden Years Manor. He was born September 30, 1915 in Gravelly, Arkansas to Clyde Earl and Beulah YATES DOUTHIT. He was reared and educated in Gravelly where he attended school. Mr. DOUTHIT married Lois HUNNICUTT on April 21, 1941 in Gravelly. Mr. DOUTHIT worked for Conwood Corporation, formerly the Garrett Snuff Company as a salesman for 34 years, before retiring in 1978. During the years, 1944 to 1968 they lived in Russellville. They moved to Pine Bluff in 1968. He was a member of Hazel Street Church of Christ and Carlisle Church of Christ, the Free and Accepted Masonry, United Commercial Travelers and the Civilian Conservation Corps. Mr. DOUTHIT is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Earl and Beulah YATES DOUTHIT and a brother, Loyd DOUTHIT. Survivors include his wife, Lois HUNNICUTT DOUTHIT of Carlisle; daughter, Peggy DOWDY and husband, James of Carlisle; brother Floyd DOUTHIT of Fort Smith; grandsons, Garrett DOWDY and wife, Ellen of Nixa, Missouri, Dustin DOWDY and wife, Teffany of Roswell, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Chris, Taylor and Alex DOWDY of Nixa, Missouri; nieces, Doris STOKES and husand Bill, Anna HOLLEY and husband John all of Fort Smith. Services were at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 2, 2003 at Nola Church of Christ, in Nola, (Scott County) with Dr. Bob Dunaway officiating. Burial by Ralph Robinson and Son in Parks Cemetery at Gravelly, Arkansas (Yell County). Memorials may be made to Lonoke Council on Aging, 315 East Park, Carlisle, Arkansas 72024 or Carlisle Church of Christ, P.O.
