He enlisted 1 November 1781 and served as private in Captain William Richards' Company, Colonel Isaac Sherman's Connecticut Regiment, Captain Samuel Eells' Company, Colonel Zebulon Butler's Connecticut Regiment, Captain Lemuel Clift's Company, Colonel Heman Swift's Connecticut Regiment, was in no battles, but some skirmishes, and was discharged July 12 1783.
22 SEP 1785 at age 21 he married 19-year-old Betsey WHITE in Stafford Springs, Tolland County, Connecticut.

2. Pension Application for widow Catharine Whitaker for her first husband Silas Beardsley W. 3370, states that her second husband, Abraham Whitaker died April 1, 1841 or 1842 at the house of his son Henry Whitaker, in Warren Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.
