"SHERIDAN - James N. Lemons of Sheridan, Ark. was born Jan. 14,1920 in Leola, Ark. the son of the late Gordon and Hattie Perser Lemons. He was a member of First Landmark Baptist Church of Sheridan; a Mason and Past Master of Gavel Lodge #260, and was a World War II Army Veteran having been attached to the 5th Air Force where he served in the South Pacific for 44 months. He was one of the Founders of First National Bank of Sheridan where he served as Director.

"He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf. He had three great loves: His family, God and his Country, not in that order, but a deep devotion to all. Mr. Lemons died Wednesday, July 24, 2007 at Hot Spring County Medical Center in Malvern at the age of 87.

"In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Virgle Lemons and Cleatis Lemons; and sisters, Orvilla Fitzhugh and Marie Powell. Survivors: wife of 61 years, whom he married Dec. 24, 1945, Bobbie Jean Walker Lemons of Sheridan; daughter, Tana Holder and husband John of Koshkonong, Mo.; grandson, Jim Jordan; great-grandchildren, Morgan and Kali Gill and their parents, Rick and Tami Gill of Sheridan; sisters, Billie Harris of Tuscon, Ariz., Rose Ella Dabbout of Olympia, Wash., Reba Jones of Okanogan, Wash.

"Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday, July 27, 2007 at First Landmark Baptist Church in Sheridan with Bro. Tim Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville. Visitation; 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First Landmark Baptist Church, 402 West Center, Sheridan, Ark. 72150 or Grant County Museum, 521 Shackleford, Sheridan, Ark. 72150.
