JOSHUA ELIAS DABBS died 10 Jan 1928 in Alton Madison Co IL - born 15 Mar 1841 near Grafton Jersey Co IL s/o Jesse & Mathilda (Marsh) Dabbs. When his country had need of him during the Civil War, he enlisted in Company A, 13th US Infantry and saw service at Chickasaw Bayou, Arkansas Post, Steelville, Maynes Bluff, Champion's Hill, Black River Bridge, Battle of Chickamauga, Seige of Nashville, Jackson Mill and while carrying the colors at the battle of Vicksburg, May 19, 1863, he was wounded. On July 31, 1865 he received his honorable discharge. Joshua Dabbs married Susan Elizabeth Worthey on 24 Mar 1866 and they had 10 children. After the death of his wife Susan in 1917, Joshua remarried his widowed sister in law Catherine (Worthey) Dabbs on 17 Oct 1918 in Otterville
