Death of G.A. Chandler
G.A. Chandler died suddenly, Thursday afternoon, January 5, at 4:30 at the country home of Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Thompson southwest of town. Mr. Chandler was born in Jackson Parish, Louisiana, August 25, 1859, and died January 5, 1922, aged 63 years, 4 months, and 11 days. He came to the Indian Territory part of Oklahoma in 1892 and resided there until 1904 when he returned to Louisiana where he had a position as overseer of a large sawmill. He continued his work there until his health failed and he was forced to seek health in a different climate.
He thought the Oklahoma climate would benefit him and came back here but after a period of two years, death came suddenly, heart trouble seeming to be his chief trouble.
He united with the Baptist Church at the age of 12 years and remained a faithful member until his death. He leaves a wife, three daughters and one son: Mrs. W. L. Thompson, and Mrs. J.L. Wyatt, both of Waurika; Mrs. Alice Clark of Palestine, Texas; and George Chandler Jr. , of Standard, Louisiana.
Funeral services were conducted at the Sugden Cemetery, where interment was made Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock by Rev. C.D. Drumgool. A host of friends were present to pay their last respects.
