William Bowker Sr.
William H. "Bill" Bowker Sr., 74, died Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. He was a resident of Edinburgh. He was born Feb. 17, 1933, in Medora, Ill., to Truman D. and Ruby (Owens) Bowker. He married Betty J. (Burton) Bowker on Oct. 18, 1952. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, William H. "Billy" (Sheila) Bowker Jr. and Jeffery L. Bowker, both of Edinburgh; two daughters, Kimberly (Kenneth) Streeval and Janet Bowker, both of Edinburgh; two sisters, Doris Pruitt of Jacksonville, Ill., and Lela Harding of Medora, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by seven brothers, Milford, Lloyd, Gene, Claude, Walter, Elmer "Tug" and Jim Bowker; and three sisters, Viola Kirchner, Ida Bell Coleman and Anna Mae Bowker.
He was a member of Who So Ever Will Community Church in Edinburgh and Edinburgh American Legion Post 233. He owned and operated Bee Line Signs. He was an avid sports fan, particularly of Indianapolis Colts football and St. Louis Cardinals baseball. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War and receiving a Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
Services were entrusted to Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home of Edinburgh, Indiana.
