Son of Capt. John Imes and Mary Polly Eades. Husband of Martha A. Hamilton Imes. Father of Mary Duckworth Imes Connell, Sarah Lutisha Imes Johnson, Catherine Alice Imes Woods Thompson, George Carlton Imes Sr., Lydia A. Imes Kilgore and Bessie Lee Imes Greer. Served in the Civil War (CSA). Enlisted as Private Sept. 9, 1861, Company E, 22 Georgia Infantry "Warsaw Rebels. Fought with General Robert E. Lee in the Valley of Virginia campaign. Pension records show that on May 14, 1864 in Spotslvania, VA he was permanently disabled from a wound through the neck, resulting in paralysis of his right side & fracture of his right leg.
