Paul was born on April 29, 1922 in Seneca, Mo., the son of the late Samuel and Verna Bennett. He has been a lifetime area resident. He served in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of WWII. He owned and operated Bennett Shoe store in Seneca, Mo., and he worked for Rocketdyne in Neosho, Mo. He was a member of the 26th & Connecticut Church of Christ. He was a member of the DVA.
He married Marie Abernathy in April of 1955 in Joplin. She survives. Additional survivors include; one son, Greg Bennett, Joplin; one grandchild, one great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Swars Prairie Baptist Cemetery. Don Deffenbaugh, minister, will officiate. The pallbearers will be Larry Addington, Chad Abernathy, Brent Sherwood, Doug Douthitt, and Drew Douthitt. Honorary pallbearer will be Joey Addington.
The visitation will be 5:30 p.m. To 6:30 p.m. at Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fair Haven Children's Home in care of the mortuary.
