The son of Newton Ferdinand Little, Sr. and Ellen Young Steel. On 1 August 1907 in the Lorrine community of Caddo Parish, Newt married a young widow, Leola Brock Tucker. Her first husband had been a Shreveport deputy named Lee Tucker, originally from the Keachie area of DeSoto Parish. In 1908, their son, Newton F. Little II was born. The marriage seemed to be in trouble by 1910, with Leola living with her mother on Walnut Street. At some point, she and Newton III moved to Houston, Texas. On 8 May 1917, Newton was stuck by a car, suffered a fractured skull and died the next day.
