He married Celie Edna Jeffers Sep 3, 1939George W. Sharpe, Rev., 89, of the Mill Branch community, passed away Friday morning, November 9, 1984, at the Oak Ridge Hospital following a lingering illness. Rev. Sharpe was the son of the late Russell M. Sharpe and the late Peggy York and was also preceded in death by his wife, Celie Enda Jeffers Sharpe; one daughter, Erma Veachel Sharpe; four sisters: Ellen Cooper, Betty Williams, Veachel Sharpe, and Geneva Jeffers; and four brothers: Alvin, Harm, Lee Ander, and Freeman Sharpe. Rev. Sharpe pastored the Mill Branch Baptist Church for more than thirty years prior to joining the Fairview Missionary Baptist Church. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Roland (Wyvona) Jeffers of the Mill Branch community; two sons: Ralford L. Sharpe of Phoenix, Ariz., and Ledford D. Sharpe of Norma; five sisters: Orpha Parrett of Anville, Ky., Pearl Jeffers and Stella Carroll, both of Norma, Elsie Sexton of the Low Gap community, and Macel Webb of Shepherdville, Ky.; two brothers: Orlando Sharpe of Deer Lodge, and Emmit Hughett of Helenwood; ten grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at Fairview Missionary Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Sunday, November 11, with Rev. Carl Jeffers officiating. The Lawson Singers sang. Burial followed in the Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers were: George Harless, Dean Jeffers, Jimmy Jeffers, Leon Lawson, Daryll Sharpe, and Vernon Sharpe.
