Shirley Mae Ruble, 66, went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 17. She was born in San Jose to her loving parents, Clarence and Frances Rodrick. In 1955, she married the love of her life, Donnie Dale Ruble. They relocated to Fairfield, and began their life together.
Over the next 50 years, Shirley made Fairfield/ Suisun her home. She helped run the family business until the passing of her beloved husband. While raising her four children, she worked as a bank teller and in 1984, moved to Suisun and began her 18-year career in real estate. She then became a real estate broker and retired in 2002. Shirley was very business minded. At one time she owned five homes, four of which were rental properties.
Shirley was a loving mom and grandma who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. You could find her on any given Sunday, watching a football game or talking on the phone to friends. Shirley had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. She will be missed by those surviving her; son, Steven W. Ruble of Suisun; daughter, Donna Sholberg-Ruble of Suisun; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Stephanie Ruble of Elk Grove; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Warren Littlefield of Roseville; sister, Nancy Shannon of Santa Rosa; five grandchildren, Brook and Blake Sholberg, Donnie Ruble, Jody McLoed, Elijah Ruble and Aaron Ruble as well as her very dear friend and business partner, Margaret Gallagher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donnie Ruble (1977); son, Jeffery Ruble (1988); and granddaughter, Brittany Sholberg (1990).
A visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m., at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Fairfield. Interment will follow at St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery, Fairfield.
