Glen Bak, 82 year old Sheridan resident, passed away Tuesday, January 7th at the Sheridan Memorial Hospital.

Glendow Jerome Bak was born on June 24, 1937 in Hurley, South Dakota to Clanrence and Elnora “Johanna” Bak. He grew up and went to school in Viborg, South Dakota and graduated from Viborg High School with the class of 1955. After high school he attended the South Dakota School of Mines for one year and then attended and graduated from Mortuary College in California. He was married in February of 1958 to Ruth Westegaard. They raised three children together and lived in Wyoming, South Dakota and Iowa where Glen worked in various funeral homes as a Mortician and Funeral Director. In 1984 Glen took a job with Champion Funeral Home in Sheridan where he worked until the early 2000’s. After retirement they continued living in Sheridan. Ruth passed away in April of 2015 and Glen continued living in Sheridan until his death.

Glen was happiest in the mountains, fishing, hiking and camping. He was an accomplished stained-glass designer and refurbished church windows and created furnishings for the family. He loved animals and enjoyed all his pets. Glen was very generous and giving person.

He is survived by one son, Mark Bak of Sheridan; two daughters Marisa Olson and her husband Darin and Rhonda Duncan and her husband Barnaby all of Sheridan; one brother Roger Bak and his wife Beverly of Missoula, Montana and five grandchildren, Tess, Spencer, Ceilia, Mara and Kari. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his first daughter and one sister.
