Karl Nielsen Pedersen, recently of St. George, UT, died on June 23, 2007 at Cottonwood Hospital in Murray, UT. Karl was born on February 13, 1936 in Deer Valley (Park City), UT to Jesse Oliver and Elaine Simmons Pedersen. He was raised in Park City, UT; Octave, AZ; Baker, CA; and Murray, UT. He graduated from Murray High School and attended El Camino College in Compton, CA and the University of Utah. In 1953, he joined the Utah Air National Guard. He worked as a body and fender man in California, and then continued this career in Utah for Ken Garff. He married Sherolyn Mecham on June 28, 1958. In 1962, he began working as an agent for State Farm Insurance Companies. His love affair with cars continued while he worked for State Farm. One of Karl's bigger projects was the conversion of a 1956 Bluebird School Bus into a motor home, so his wife and daughters could camp in comfort. As his health declined, he was no longer able to work on his projects, so he filled his time keeping in touch with his many friends through late night email.

Karl is survived by his loving wife, Sherolyn; mother, Elaine Pedersen; daughters, Julie (Cary) Malmrose; Joni (Grant) Williams; Patti (Scott) Campbell; Alice (Ayman) Haddadin; 15 grandchildren; 5 1/2 great grandchildren; sister, Katie (Tom) Winn; and many loved nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. Jim Pearl for his dedicated care of Karl over the past few years, along with Dr. Hoffman and Dr. Parkinson of St. George, Utah. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 28, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the Butler 11th Ward, 1845 E. 7200 S. Friends may call Wednesday, June 27, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State St., and on Thursday from 9:45-10:45 am at the church. Interment, Riverton City Cemetery.

Tribute

Karl Pedersen my special Double Cousin

Karl and I were special cousins. We were both born in Park City, Utah in 1936. Our fathers were brothers and our mothers were sisters so we called ourselves Double Cousins.

Both our families were nearly always together for all those many years.  Our fathers were both first miners and then auto mechanics. They were in business together.

We lived in households usually in the same communities.  Activities were also the same as we grew to adulthood. Later in life our wives were also sisters.

He was himself a very special person. Loving of family, a good neighbor, philanthropic, and reached out and helped anyone in need.

Karl had a special place in my heart and mind. He passed from this life early due to medical conditions.
